I have taken the train multiple times over the years and this short article explains everything you need to know if you are planning to go from Prague to Berlin by train.

But first, let’s start with the train stations that your Prague to Berlin train might use.

Prague Train Station

Prague has two major train stations, Hlavní Nádraží, and Praha Holešovice. Hlavní Nádraží, also known as Prague Main Railway Station, is located in the heart of the city and is the larger of the two stations.

Make sure you carefully check your train ticket if you have booked online to see which train station your train departs from.

Prague Main Railway Station is equipped with a range of amenities, including shops, restaurants, and currency exchange offices.

There are also luggage storage facilities available if you need to store your bags while you explore the city. As Germany uses Euro, you might consider spending your last Czech Crowns or exchanging them here.

Berlin Train Station

Berlin has four main train stations, with Berlin Hauptbahnhof being the largest and most centrally located. This station is a hub for regional, national, and international trains, and is equipped with a range of amenities, including shops, restaurants, and luggage storage facilities.

Other Berlin train stations include Berlin Ostbahnhof, Berlin Gesundbrunnen, and Berlin Südkreuz.

If you are staying in East Berlin, it might be more practical to get off at Ostbahnhof.

Several train companies operate on the Prague to Berlin route, including Deutsche Bahn, EuroCity, and RegioJet. The journey time from Prague to Berlin is approximately 4-5 hours, with trains departing multiple times daily.

The Eurocity train takes just over 4 hours and is the fastest train available. There is no Prague to Berlin flight as the distance is too small to operate a flight, plus the train is an efficient option.

What are the Prague to Berlin train times and schedule?

On a weekday, the earliest Prague to Berlin train leaves Prague at around 06:21 and the last train leaves at around 18:27. This is the same at the weekend.

The journey time is typically around 4 hours, and the ticket price can range from about 25-50 EUR for a standard class ticket, depending on the time of day and how far in advance you book. 3. RegioJet: RegioJet is a private train company that operates trains across Central Europe; however on the Prague to Berlin route, they use a bus. I still would like to mention it as if you are travelling to Prague from Vienna or Budapest or vice versa, I recommend RegioJet. They offer a variety of classes of service, including low cost, standard, relax and business, with prices ranging from around 16-60 EUR, depending on the class and how far in advance you book. The journey time is typically around 4 hours and 20 minutes. I have used them multiple times on different routes and enjoyed the journey, including water, coffee, and wifi.

It’s important to note that these prices and journey times are subject to change, and it’s always a good idea to check with the train company directly to confirm the latest information. 

Does the train have wifi?

90% of the trains do have wifi on board the train. However, the wifi connection might be unreliable if the train goes fast. I usually use my phone with eSIM for Europe to stay connected. I often hotspot to my computer to get some work done on the train or enjoy staying connected.

Book the Prague to Berlin Train online or at the Train Station

You can easily book your ticket online or at the train station. I usually book my train on Trainline or the train operator’s website.

If you prefer to purchase your ticket at the train station, you can do so at the ticket counter or self-service kiosks.

You can reserve a seat for the train journey; this can also be booked online or at the station.

If you don’t pay for a reserved seat, find a seat on the train with no ticket above the seat stating it has been reserved. Some newer trains now have a digital sign if the seat has been reserved.

Classes of Service on the train 

Most train companies offer different classes of service, including standard class, first class, and business class. 

• Standard class is the most affordable option, including basic amenities such as comfortable seating and access to the onboard restaurant car. And electrical outlet.
• The first class offers additional amenities like wider seats, legroom, and complimentary food and drink service.
