Latvia is a country on the Baltic Sea between Lithuania and Estonia. It has the perfect balance of lakes, woods, and the sea. Latvia is all about pristine parkland with an exciting, cosmopolitan capital, Rīga. This is home to notable wooden and art nouveau architecture, a vast Central Market, and a medieval Old Town. Latvia is a small country, yet it’s got a big, likable personality.
Visitors come here for the fantastic trekking and cycling opportunities it offers and its landscape is marked by wide beaches as well as dense, sprawling forests. Naturally we were keen to taste some of the traditional dishes. We loved the soups in Latvia, especially with a slice of their rye bread. One of the best in Europe.
