Skyscanner is the one we use to book most of our travels around the world. It allows you to search for the cheapest flights over entire months and lets you see the cheapest destinations you can fly to. Our favourite thing about Skyscanner is that it has “everywhere” as a destination option.

We also use Expedia to book some of our flights. This search engine lets book flights, vacation packages, hotels, cars, cruises and activities too. The search features from the homepage prompt you for the most important information first. Then you can filter the results for the best hotels, flights and rental cars based on your preferences.

Travel Insurance

World Nomads is the only travel insurance company we use. It’s flexible, even allowing you to purchase insurance after you’ve started your trip (not typical of most insurance companies), or extend any time if you decide to travel longer. It provides generous coverage, particularly for adventure activities and sports. From our own personal experience, they actually pay out for legitimate insurance claims when things go wrong.

Viator is one of our favourite sites for booking food tours, day tours and attraction tickets. It’s so easy to just browse the tours on Viator, pay online, and immediately receive your tour voucher. You can choose to print it or simply save it as a display on your smartphone.

Osprey Farpoint 40L Backpack. This is hands down, the best backpack we’ve ever travelled with. Osprey bags are built for life, they’re super durable, affordable and have great features for the modern-day traveller. Gotta love that this one is a carry-on size too.

Lonely Planet Travel Guides are a great source of information for every traveller. We regularly used these useful guide books for inspiration about where to travel and for assistance in planning logistics for many trips. If you don’t want to carry the weight of a guidebook, they offer an E-Book version too.

We love our Birkenstock Sandals. They’re so comfortable for everyday wear, they’re light and durable too. These are always in our backpacks…or on our feet.

Awesome Group Tour Companies

Intrepid Travel is our favourite small group tour company. They offer different trips to all corners of the globe, plus they have several different ways to travel. Choose from Basic, Original or Comfort style with these guys. What we love most is that they are firm believers in responsible travel, they use local guides and their tours are affordable.

GAdventures are another awesome small group tour company that offer some incredible trips and they care about sustainable tourism too. These guys have many returning clients, which speaks volumes about the value of their tours around the world.

Money Matters

TransferWise is an online account that lets you send money, get paid, and spend money internationally. This service has saved us loads of money in International fees. We’d rather pay these guys a few dollars to transfer cash around the world than give it to the greedy banks…wouldn’t you? With a TransferWise account, you can get paid in other currencies and send money overseas. Seriously, this changed our lives! When you sign up for a Transferwise account using our personal invite – you can send your first International transfer absolutely free! You’re welcome.

Ing Direct

Applying for our Explorers American Express Credit Card was the best thing we ever did. We were hesitant at first as there is an annual fee of $400, however you receive a credit of $400 to spend towards travels…so it’s free. More reasons to love it. You get 2 entries to the Amex lounge at SYD or MEL airport per year. The more you spend, the more points you earn for travel. You can transfer points to 8 airlines (Virgin Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Emirates or others) to use towards your next flight. The customer service team at AMEX are amazing. The best part for new members who sign up here – you’ll receive a bunch of points to put towards your first International or domestic flight!
