Want to travel more? Keen to learn how you can book the most affordable flights, accommodation, tours and travel insurance? After travelling the world for more than 20 years, we’ve created this travel resources page to share our expert travel knowledge with you.

We even wrote a post about it – Our ultimate travel tips.

We’ve spent countless hours trying to figure out how to travel longer, cheaper and better. This is a collection of the best travel resources when it comes to transportation, accommodation, travel insurance, travel gear and more.

All of these items are products that we personally use and recommend to others. Choosing the best travel resources from the beginning will save you time and money. Trust us, if you use these travel resources below, you will be able to travel much further than you ever imagined.

Skyscanner is the one we use to book most of our travels around the world. It allows you to search for the cheapest flights over entire months and lets you see the cheapest destinations you can fly to. Our favourite thing about Skyscanner is that it has “everywhere” as a destination option.

We also use Expedia to book some of our flights. This search engine lets book flights, vacation packages, hotels, cars, cruises and activities too. The search features from the homepage prompt you for the most important information first. Then you can filter the results for the best hotels, flights and rental cars based on your preferences.

Hostelworld is the best platform to book hostels and places to stay around the world. Staying in hostels will provide you with an affordable, comfortable and safe place to stay. The best part is that you get to meet other travellers too! We’ve met some of our closest friends in hostels, we really love the social aspect. Check out hostels in your next destination here.

Airbnb is one of our favourite ways to travel. Not only do you get the experience of living like a local in a real house or apartment, but you also save heaps of money.

Travel Insurance

World Nomads are a reliable and popular choice of Travel Insurance Providers out there. It’s flexible, even allowing you to purchase insurance after you’ve started your trip (not typical of most insurance companies), or extend any time if you decide to travel longer. It provides generous coverage, particularly for adventure activities and sports. From our own personal experience, they actually payout for legitimate insurance claims when things go wrong.

Travel Gear We love

Sony RX100 VI Compact Camera – the camera we’re currently using to travel around the world. We love how compact this camera is, especially because we’re carry-on travellers and need to keep the load light! This camera takes amazing photos and it’s really easy to use.

Osprey Farpoint 40L Backpack. This is hands down, the best backpack we’ve ever travelled with. Osprey bags are built for life, they’re super durable, affordable and have great features for the modern-day traveller. Gotta love that this one is a carry-on size too.

Our Frank Green Cup is one of our favourite travel items, we never leave home without them. The ideal vessel to match our travel espresso machine, but perfect for a hot cup of tea too. They don’t spill or smash either, the best travel companion! Founded in our home city of Melbourne, we love that they create reusable and sustainable cups.

We love our portable espresso maker! It travels with us around the world. We can pump out a great espresso with a rich crema and all from anywhere, at any time. We pick up ground coffee beans along the way to make sure we never miss one of the things we love the most.

We love our Birkenstock Sandals. They’re so comfortable for everyday wear, they’re light and durable too. These are always in our backpacks…or on our feet.

Nike Running Shoes are an essential item in our ultimate packing list for every traveller! They’re super comfortable spending long days walking around cities, hiking, or getting in a quick gym session on the road. We always buy them in black, as they go with anything we wear and they’re easy to clean.
