Ok, I admit it. A huge motivation for my travels around the world is largely based on how good the cuisine is.

Uzbekistan is Central Asia’s biggest drawcard. Home to some of the most magnificent architecture in the world and one of the countries on the ancient Silk Road route. The shining stars are the ancient cities of Bukhara, Samarkand and Khiva. But for those seeking adventure, the Aral Sea, formerly the world’s fourth-largest lake, might be worth a trip. Uzbek cuisine isn’t exactly world-renowned, but you might enjoy the national dish ‘plov’ when cooked well. The simple shashlik can also be delicious.
