I first visited Sarajevo in 2007 and most of my friends and family were surprised that I was going to Bosnia & Herzegovina.
At the time, it was still seen as a post-war country (more about that later) and Sarajevo was no longer associated with the Olympics held here, but sadly more so with the bitter long siege of the city.
For me, there is no other part of Europe that is as exciting to explore as the Balkans.
