There are several different neighbourhoods and choices for where to stay in Tbilisi.
Let’s briefly explain them before you decide which area suits you best.
Nearest Metro: Liberty Square or Avlabari
This is the heart of tourism in Tbilisi, with many charming historic buildings, cobblestoned streets, restaurants, and cafes.
An extensive range of accommodations is available here, from super affordable hostels small boutique hotels, family-run guesthouses, and apartments. We’d agree that some of the best apartments can be found on Booking.com.
Nearest Metro: Rustaveli and Liberty Square (each on one end of the avenue)
This is the main avenue in Tbilisi. This tree-lined boulevard is a good choice where to stay in Tbilisi if you wish to remain in the city.
It’s near the Old Town, which has museums, churches, theatres, and a shopping mall. Here, you can find stunning art nouveau buildings, shops, restaurants, top-rated hotels, and boutique accommodations.
This friendly neighbourhood comprises narrow alleys and streets, individual sidewalk cafes, historical buildings, and cultural pubs.
It is so easy to explore on foot, and it oozes charm with quaint spots to grab a coffee or enjoy the place’s vibe.
This area is perfect for backpackers, hipsters, young professionals & entrepreneurs, artists, and those who want to enjoy the nightlife.

Nearest Metro: Avlabari
Avlabari used to be the central
The Armenian district in Tbilisi is located across the river from the Old Town. Avlabari is around a twenty-minute walk from the city centre.
This is an excellent place to stay in Tbilisi on a budget. It’s close to the old town, and prices tend to be lower.
Here, you can find some great budget and mid-range hotels and hostels. It’s close to public transport, and this neighbourhood has a ‘local’ feel.
Nearest Metro: Rustaveli
Vake is an up-market local area with great cafes, bars and restaurants. A green neighbourhood in a central location of the city. Most of it is snuggled into a hillside.
It’s a quiet location, suitable for families and those who appreciate being away from the busy tourist hub. If you choose to stay here, be ready for some uphill walks. Perfect if you’re indulging in the best of Georgian cuisine.
The area features many beautiful gardens and tiny backstreets with hidden immaculate courtyards.
Nearest Metro: Marjanishvili
Lots to see and do in this neighbourhood. It’s a good choice for where to stay in Tbilisi, full of historic architecture and unique character.
Ideal for those who enjoy the nightlife, artists, musicians, and free spirits.

This area is getting increasingly popular with tourists and is a great option for where to stay in Tbilisi. The newly renovated Aghmashenebeli Avenue offers a glimpse of the beautiful old architecture of the city.
The avenue has been turned into a pedestrian street full of bars, cafƩs, and wine bars with a noticeable Turkish influence.
Be sure to stroll along the backstreets of the area to find gorgeous architectural buildings of the 19th century.
Photographers will love the opportunities to capture some great shots.

Tiflis Inn Boutique Hotel – In Old Tbilisi, this hotel is ideally located in the middle of Abanotubani, where you’ll find the cityās famous sulphur baths. Graphica Tbilisi – Located on the opposite side of the river, this property features uniquely designed rooms. The location is excellent.

Woodmood Hostel – In a fantastic location in the Chugureti neighbourhood, this hostel is a top choice. A favourite amongst budget solo travellers looking for affordable dorm beds, it consistently scores superb reviews. Check details and prices here
Fabrika Hostel & Suites – An excellent budget option and one of the best hostels in Tiblisi. They offer cheap dorm beds, and for those who like a little more comfort, private rooms are available, too.

Pushkin 10 Hostel – This location is fantastic if you want to be close to it all. Itās close to Freedom Square (for tourist information and metro) and faces the busy Baratashvili street.
