Guinea-Bissau Visa was by far the easiest and quickest visa to obtain on our travels in West Africa.
There is a Guinea-Bissau embassy in Dakar that issues the visa in just a day for CFA45,000 (about $78) but we heard Ziginchor might be a cheaper option.
We arrived at the consulate around 10 am as we were travelling through from Cap Skirring. The consulate is only a few blocks away from the station “gare-routiere” so you can walk here from there.
There was no application, we simply handed over our passport photos and paid for our Guinea-Bissau visa sticker.
The visa was issued on the spot, it took about 5 minutes and we were on our way to get to Guinea-Bissau the same day.
We hold Australian and EU passports. Check if you need a visa here: Visa Policy for Guinea-Bissau Visa
Location: Address: Consulate of Guinea Bissau, Near John Paul II roundabout, Ziguinchor
The location is correct on maps.me app and only 10 minutes walk from the gare routiere – station.
You can probably get a cab here for CFA 500 ($1) if you need to. There were no opening hours at the consulate, so not sure about this. My advice is to try to get here in the morning.

Thanks for saving me the time and money. I am in Dakar now but will apply in Ziguinchor for Gwinea Bissau visa. All the best!
Awesome! Glad these visa blogs are helping out other travellers. Enjoy Guinea Bissau, we really enjoyed it there. We’d love to have had a little more time and seen some of the islands, but at the time we thought they were way too expensive for us to even consider. Once we reached Guinea Bissau, we were told that there are cheaper ways of reaching them. So if this interests you, maybe take a look into them and bring enough cash with you! ATM’s often were all out of local currency, so best to withdraw in Dakar.
I obtained my visa to Guinea-Bissau in Ziguinchor as well. The consulate opens around 09:00-09:30. until 14:00 HR.Monday to Friday. You just walk straight inside then the gentlemen will notify the Consulate General who has an office off to the left of the entrance. All I needed was my passport & 20,000 XOF. All the Consulate General did was log down my passport details in a book then afterward applied my visa with the details. It took less then ten minutes. Yes, the bus station is just a couple blocks away. You’ll arrive at the border around 25 minutes later from Ziguinchor. The cost for the Sept Place Van was 4,500 XOF from Ziguinchor to Bissau. An extra 500 XOF for every piece of luggage. The journey after border crossing will take 2 1/2 hours to Bissau. I just returned from this adventure two weeks ago.
